Army’s 53-RR organizes special cricket match for visually impaired persons in Budgam | KNO

Budgam, Apr 15 (KNO): Indian Army’s 53 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) on Wednesday organised a special cricket match for visually impaired persons at Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Nagam in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district. According to details available with news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), visually challenged players associated with Jammu and Kashmir Blind Welfare Trust (JKBWT) participated in the match, which was played between Vision Warriors and Zaiba Aapa Warriors. After winning the toss, Vision Warriors opted to bat first and set a target of 68 runs. In response, Zaiba Aapa Warriors chased the total in 6.4 overs to win the match. Adil Ahmad scored an unbeaten 35 runs and was the top performer. The event witnessed participation from students, school staff and locals from Nagam and adjoining areas. The programme was attended by Commanding Officer 53 RR Nagam, Col Nitin Sharma; Second-in-Command Lt Col Mohsin Kamal; SDM Chadoora, Primrose Bashir and other dignitaries. Chairman JKBWT Showkat Ahmad Lone thanked the Army and school administration for organising the event and said that the Deputy Commissioner Budgam and 53 RR have assured support for setting up a skill training institute for visually challenged youth in the district. Commanding Officer 53 RR, Col Nitin Sharma, said that the Army will continue to support visually challenged youth through skill development and sports activities in the coming months—(KNO)
